25/01/2012 - SOCCER VILLAGE BACK ON BOARD
We are pleased to see our old friends at Soccer Village are on the Radar again thanks to Kevin Dunkerley taking over as general manager. We have been using the facility for a few years now but not as much recently. Already the owners have invested in recarpeting pitches. Two Heyside Juniors teams have been based at the facility since Kevin took over.
Taking on the role is seen by the club as a perfect fit for Kevin with the JSL LEAGUES and coaching flying at the moment. With the close association it can only be seen as a great step forward for the Juniors and Angels. In discussion there have been exciting plans based around various forms of football.
We are supporting the North Manchester Girls League mini soccer comps which will be played at the facility on the 9th September. There is plenty of potential in the Rochdale which would be a natural progession as we already attract players from the Newhey and Milnrow area.
GOOD LUCK KEVIN from all at Heyside FC

15/01/2012 - ANGELS SING THE BLUES IN THE COUNTY CUP SEMI
A Brilliant display by the Angels in the County Cup Semi Final meant the girls beat Manchester City 4-3 in a thriller. Knowing that Emily Kay could only play 1/2 a game due to commitments meant manager Scott Pollinger gave one simple instruction go for it and the girls came out of the starting blocks racing into a 2-0 lead. City kept fighting back all the time with the scores going 2-1,3-1, 3-2 and 4-2 as the girls played out on thier feet for the last part of the game and was only in the last minute that City breached the Angels goal.
The girls are over the Blue moon to reach the final and be the first Angels team to beat City in this competition.
Well done girls from all the Angels & Juniors

21/12/2011 - STRAIGHT EIGHT
Congratulations go to all the eight Angels teams who did us proud on Saturday in the NMGL finals. We came home with winners trophies in 5 of the seven divisions and were runners -up in the other 2, and also runners up in the Under 13's division. If you take the fact that before the final 2 Angels teams had been knocked out by Angels teams it was a strong showing. Fantastic performance from the Angels all round.
Congrats also go to our sister club ROCS who won the Under 15's section in a close game against the Angels.

28/11/2011 - HEYSIDE JUNIORS PAYS RESPECT TO GARY SPEED
Heyside Juniors wish to join in paying our respects to the family of Gary Speed. We all woke up to the shock news on Sunday morning that he had died, the news seemingly unreal as we had only seen Gary on Match of the Day hours before.
To those of a certain age they would remember Gary Speed play for several clubs in the 1990s and 2000's. The type of player you would want in your team. Hard working, a good team mate, skillful especially when taking players on. He had a great shot and an infectious smile. A model professional who as coaches we could point out as a great role model.
A Welsh player who played in the team in the 1990s when Rushy and Mark Hughes made it a great Welsh team. After years on seeing the Wales team go backwards, Gary Speed was turning things around as Manager with his young guns and it was obvious that his football ethics were rubbing off. It was clear from the Swansea players reaction and the players who marked thier respect from City and Liverpool before the game how many players had been effected by the news, but the clearest indication on how highly respected he was, was the vision of Shay Given (another nice guy in football) with tears as the Swansea v Villa game kicked off.
Those who like to see football played the right way will admire Gary Speed and it is a sad loss to football. It is of course an even sadder loss to his family and this club would like to pay our respects.

11/11/2011 - HEYSIDE FC RESPRESENT OLDHAM
On Friday Heyside FC were proud to represent Oldham at the 11th Greater Sport Awards. Entering by the red carpet at The Point - Lancashire CC. the club was quietly confident of winning an award in one of the 6 catagories as we were nominated in 2 catagories. After an excellent meal supplemented by Col Paiges singing and an impromtu mass sway by everybody stood on chairs to ca cera cera we moved on to the raffle with 25 excellent prizes and another prize.
The speaker was Catherine Merry 400 metre Bronze medallist at the Sydney Olympics, the speech was entertaing and funny which went on a bit but went down well. Inspirational in content aimed at inspirational people.
The Awards came next with the 10 Boroughs of Manchester represented, 4th up - club of the year - representing Oldham was Heyside FC. The write up was strong and the amatuer pundits on our table said it was nailed on, and with getting the 1st three right things looked good. But disapointment reigned again as another Oldham nominee bit the dust, not surprising when informed in 11 years Oldham has won nowt.
Second catagory nominee was Steve Grice in the unsung hero section, to be fair Steve was about 25 years too young and 20 years of experience away from winning. Sorry Oldham we really though we had a chance this year.
The nail was put in the coffin, remember me telling you that there was 25 great raffle prizes and one not so great, well Steve Grice one the naff one, 2 tickets to the Man Utd vs Newcastle game, although the offer of 50p was tempting he declined as he is letting his daughter go.
Congratulations to the winners and to Greater Sport on a great night and we are sorry we couldn't bring Oldhams first win in 60 odd attempts but we were proud to represent Oldham
