Rachel McHugh became the 4th Angel this season to recieve the Golden Boot trophy when she was presented with the award at the Angels Presentation night on Friday 26th June. Rachel scored the goals in the Oldham Girls League Under 16's Division in a highly competitive league.
Rachel started with Heyside Angels in 2002 when she was the striker for our Devils team and has become more and more potent as a striker as she's grown older, she is also part of the Holland crew as she's been over twice to sv AWC playing for the Angels. Dad is part of the very unsucessful olde codgers team that graces sorry disgraces the pitch each year.
The Angels presentation night marked the end of the Heyside Juniors Presentation night season, 5 in total and all held at St. Annes Rugby club. Over 1200 players and family have attended the nights from toddlers to grandparents who have supported the players from the club. Each Night has been unique in its own way and massively enjoyable,it was great to see so many happy faces. From the Academy night when we couldn't get any more in, to Debbie Pearson Air guitaring with the Under 10's,to Steve 'Mr. Bombastic' Wood with his new head of hair, to Colin Shaylor and Nick Bromley who bring a new meaning to tickled pink,to the heart warming night that Conor Buckley got the special award from his grandma Val. There have been many more moments that have shown pride for the players achievements and I will have many memories of these nights. As the Compere on every night I needed help running the night, many thanks to all the ladies and gents who helped with selling raffle tickets, the Managers who helped with presentation of awards -some speeches were like War and Peace others where one liners. To the bar staff and Brendan from St. Annes Rugby club who did a magnificent job and to Mark, Mark & Fran the DJs who helped make the nights run smoothly. Lastly to the players who behaved themselves and showed pride in thier team and the club. WELL DONE HEYSIDE JUNIORS & ANGELS
Thanks Steve
